School Counseling Secretary
An employee in this position is responsible for providing clerical services in school counseling offices.
Employees type correspondence, process various reports and information, greet visitors, answer telephone inquiries, and maintain files and records. The work involves handling and processing confidential information and work direction of student help. All important aspects of the work are subject to established procedures.
Graduation from high school preferred, including or supplemented by courses in office practices, and experience in office clerical work; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that would provide the following knowledge, abilities, and skills:
* Knowledge of business English, spelling, general vocabulary, and arithmetic, and of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment
* Some knowledge of the general organization and functions of a public school system
* Ability to maintain records of a confidential nature, prioritize assignments, and assemble, organize, and prepare data from records
* Good organizational, human relations, and communications skills
