Job Announcement

As a member of the server team, serves as subject matter expert for server administrators responsible for the configuration, management, maintenance, and monitoring of Windows and UNIX server environments, related middleware and tools, and integration with storage systems and end-user devices county-wide. Duties include:
  • Coordinates efforts with other technical divisions in the Department of Information Technology (DIT) in the design, configuration, installation and maintenance of the county's enterprise technology infrastructure environment, systems and integration of Office 365, and other cloud infrastructure environments, desktops, laptops, smart phones and mobile devices.
  • Works closely with IT network analysts in performing hardware and software upgrades to network components as required to maintain compatibility between server and network environments.
  • Assists team leader in countywide project planning, technology assessments, training, and implementation of current and future windows and Unix systems.
  • Participates on DIT and agencies' projects in implementing and supporting access to Windows/Unix-based applications, ensures maximum network utilization and availability of multiple servers supporting county agencies and thousands of end-users and the public enterprise WEB site.
  • Supports multiple agencies with windows system integration; develops documentation for server architecture, system administration documentation, and IT operations.
  • Plans and manages systems for HA and DR components related to Windows and Unix systems.
  • Participates in and assists IT technicians in troubleshooting and repairing SW and HW server technologies.
  • Provides 24 x 7 support and responds as necessary in event of county-wide emergency events.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Note: This job announcement will be used to fill multiple full-time Enterprise Server Engineer (Network/Telecom Analyst III) positions.

Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience and training equivalent to the following: possession of an associate's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, electronics, or a related field; plus four years' network and/or telecommunications experience; or a bachelor's degree in such fields; plus two years' experience in network or telecommunications system design, analysis, installation, and troubleshooting.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Extensive knowledge and experience in providing Windows server, virtualization and/or 'cloud' infrastructure support in an enterprise-wide environment of multiple servers. Knowledge of configuration and integration with Active Directory, Active Directory Federation Services, Office 365, Windows Group Policies, Power Shell scripting, and knowledge of UNIX operating systems. Excellent interpersonal skills and team-based management experience. Excellent oral and written communication skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work is generally sedentary performed in a normal office environment; some light lifting of equipment will be necessary when installing PC's and servers.
