  • You may qualify at the GS-09 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:

    A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service that demonstrates: records management and information security program management. OR
    B. Have a master's or equivalent degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts for verification. OR
    C. Have some specialized experience as described in A, but less than on year; and have less than two years of graduate-level education as described in B. Compute the percentage of the requirements that are met, and the total is at least 100%(To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12, then divide your semester hours of graduate education by 36. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify) (Note: you must attach a copy of your transcripts).

    You may qualify at the GS-11 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:

    A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service that demonstrates: security classification policies and procedures for safeguarding national security information involving collateral, special access, sensitive compartmented information and controlled unclassified information material, and the storage, control, handling and transmission of classified documents. OR
    B. Have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related from an accredited college or university. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR
    C. Have some specialized experience as described in A, but less than one year; and I have less than three years of graduate-level education as described in B. Compute the percentage of the requirements that are met, and the total is at least 100%. (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education by 54. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify) (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study
