  • Must the Air Traffic Control Specialist of work situations, related conditions and significant activities.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Control Tower Operator Certificate.
  • This appointment requires a pre-employment physical and annual physicals. Must meet and maintain the physical standards set forth in Civil Service Handbook X-118 and AR 40-501 (Class IV Standards) prior to appointment.
  • --Must be able to pass an ATC flight physical.
  • Position has been designated Key (2): This position shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the agency to function effectively.
  • --Because of the essential nature of this position, shall require that it not be filled by Ready Reservists to preclude such position from being vacated during a mobilization.
  • The position has been designated as an Emergency position.
  • --This means that should there be a general dismissal authorization due to adverse weather conditions or other emergency situation (specified by organizational criteria) incumbent will remain on the job.
  • This position is subject to pre-employment and random drug testing.
  • --Incumbent must also sign DA Form 5019-R. Failure to submit specimen or sign form will result in incumbent being subject to adverse action proceedings IAW appropriate regulations.

    In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.     Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: evaluate operational effectiveness of Air Traffic Control systems, subsystems, and equipment; implement operation plans and procedures; provide training and development to subordinates. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

    Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).

    This position does not have an education qualification requirement.

    • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
    • You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
    • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
    • Direct deposit of pay is required.
    • Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
