PATHWAYS STUDENT INTERN PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY:
You MUST be either currently enrolled, or accepted for enrollment into a qualifying educational program beginning the next available school term to qualify for this program. Enrollment must be in an accredited high school, community college, vocational or technical program, undergraduate, graduate, or professional program that culminates in a diploma, certificate or degree.
GS-1: Currently enrolled in a high school diploma or GED program.
GS-2: Currently studying in a high school education program and have completed one period (2 months/320 hours) of student trainee work experience.
GS-3: Completion one full semester (or the equivalent) of post-high school study and one period (2 months/320 hours) of student trainee work experience.
GS-4: Completion of one full academic year (30 semester hours) of study and two periods (4 months/640 hours) of student trainee work experience;
Completion of one and a half academic years (45 semester hours) of study and one period (2 months/320 hours) of student trainee work experience.
GS-5: Completion of 3 full academic years (90 hour semester hours) of study leading to a bachelor's degree and one period (2 months/320 hours) of Intern trainee work experience equivalent to at least the GS-4 level;
Completion of two and a half academic years (75 semester hours) of study leading to a bachelor's degree and 6 months (at least 960 hours) of Intern work experience equivalent to at least the GS-4 level.
GS-6: Completion of all requirements for a bachelor's degree and one period (2 months/320 hours) of Intern work experience equivalent to at least the GS-5 level.
Education Documentation Required: Verification of student status and education level must be submitted with your application. Unofficial transcripts will be accepted in the application package. Official transcripts will be required prior to your starting work. If you do not provide these documents, along with a resume, then your application will be incomplete and you will not be considered.
Foreign Education: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. Conditions of Employment:
- Program Completion and Conversion: Program participants may be non-competitively converted to a career/conditional or term position (lasting between 1-4 years). If not converted at the completion of the academic program, the appointment ends, and the intern is terminated.
