Job Summary:

Westat is seeking a research analyst to contribute to education research and technical assistance projects. Candidates must be skillful at data manipulation and cleaning, analysis, interpretation, and visualization.

Job Responsibilities:

· Cleaning data and preparing data for analysis. · Conducting exploratory analysis such as descriptive statistics and inferential analysis such as multiple regression. · Creating data visualizations with Microsoft Excel or other tools. · Communicating results to collaborative project teams both verbally and in writing.

Basic Qualifications:

· A Bachelor's degree in the social sciences with 5 years of experience or a Master's degree in the social sciences with 2 years of experience and an excellent academic record is required.  · Completed coursework in quantitative subjects such as statistics, data science, math, and/or computer science. · Experience manipulating data in Microsoft Excel and other packages. · Experience conducting statistical analyses with software/language package such as R, SAS, or SPSS. · Examples of original data visualization work are required for consideration.

Desired Qualifications:

· Experience conducting some advanced statistical analysis, such as multi-level modeling. · Experience developing online graphics with Java and/or html based language package such as D3. · Experience conducting text mining with Python or R. · Knowledge of education research, datasets, and programs or policies.
Candidates must also possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, be detail oriented and able to work independently as part of interdisciplinary teams.
