The Director, Product Management is responsible for setting the direction and driving major strategic market and product initiatives. The incumbent will work closely with technology and senior leadership team to define product and market strategy, build roadmaps and coordinate/lead development efforts and market introduction plans.
  • Sets the long-term vision and strategy for company products. Develops, defines, and oversees product roadmaps.
  • Oversees the development of plans and tactics for marketing strategies impacting product management; contributes to long-term brand planning and oversees the development of short-term tactical plans to support cross-functional strategies.
  • Oversees the identification, development, implementation and ongoing management of business strategies relating to internal product development for new and existing products, including, formulating launch plans, competitive analysis, forecasting, positioning and training of internal groups.
  • Oversees the development and deployment of new product launches, sales strategies, and market introduction plans; works collaboratively with the Product Management and cross-functional teams, including marketing, to develop the necessary communications regarding each of the products -- technical documentation, marketing documentation and sales documentation requirements.
  • Evangelizes strategy within company and win support of executive team.
  • Manages strategy execution across multiple teams, including coaching others to prioritize product stories and backlogs effectively across multiple teams.
  • Drives on-time delivery of new features and products across cross-functional teams by championing an Agile culture with a focus on results.
  • Engages extensively with customers in order to gain firsthand insight on the customer's and market feedback on the business's products.
  • Conducts relevant product research, establishing competitive intelligence and various market analyses that supplements and compliments analyses already conducted by Product Managers.
  • Partners with department leadership to manage, select, train, motivate, coach, develop and retain a high performance team of Product Managers to successfully implement client's product roadmap and strategic imperatives.
  • Motivates entire team to improve quality of work performed and provides training and development opportunities as needed.
  • Performs other duties and assignments associated with the position that are reasonably assigned to support the overall needs of the business.
The successful candidate will typically require a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Marketing, or Business Management, MBA preferred, with at least 7 years of experience in digital product management and 5 years of experience in Agile product management. Prior experience managing a team of remote Product Managers is required. Must have experience managing large product portfolios. Ability to build, lead and inspire teams and individuals is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word and Excel) is required. Must possess a solid understanding of product development and management processes.
Incumbent must have strong product management, budget, and financial skills. Must be able to develop and implement long range business strategies. The ability to manage a product life-cycle is required. Strong problem-solving, delegation, organizational, planning and analytical skills are required. Ability to exercise discretion, independent judgment, and vision is needed. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to work effectively in a variety of situations; demonstrating good work habits, flexibility and initiative. Must be skilled in working with both customers and staff with a high degree of professionalism. Must have the ability to foster a positive work environment for staff, as well as provide leadership and a high degree of motivation and direction. Must have strong presentation skills with the capability of delivering presentations to any size audience. The ability to embrace change and new ideas is essential. Attention to detail is a must.
