Senior Identity Management Engineer - University Information Services (UIS)

University Information Services (UIS) provides technology tools and services in support of teaching, learning, and research at Georgetown University. UIS is seeking a Senior Identity Management Engineer to join its team of similarly skilled technical staff to support these responsibilities.

The Senior Identity Management Engineer is responsible for the design, operation and management of complex technical systems. The incumbent will also be lightly involved in the daily operations of our existing suite of enterprise services and be required to participate in a rotating on-call schedule. Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Direct the management, planning, and operations of the servers managed by University Information Services.
  • Tests New Products and Configurations.
  • Performs Cyclical Projects ( regular maintenance and audits to server systems; periodic disaster recovery testing).
  • Help develop the policies and procedures which determine the use and operation of these systems.
  • Work on a regular basis with members of several other groups within UIS, including the Help Desk, Operations Center, and Enterprise Systems Integration teams.


Qualifications
  • BS + 5 years of relevant experience in the maintenance and design of relevant enterprise systems, preferably in a higher education environment, or Master's + 2 years of experience
  • Expert-level knowledge of Microsoft based, UNIX and/or OS/390 systems administration, computer security and high-level scripting or programming
  • Demonstrated experience successfully engineering, deploying, and maintaining complex enterprise information systems in large heterogeneous production environments.
  • Demonstrated experience successfully implementing source control systems (e.g. CVS) and engineering process models (e.g. CMM) in both development and production environments.
  • Demonstrated experience successfully documenting and communicating engineered solutions for audiences of all levels.
  • Must have strong interpersonal and problem solving skills, and be highly self-motivated and organized.
  • Must have advanced planning skills and technical knowledge to perform complex, intricate tasks


Technical Qualifications or Specialized Certification:

Certification in at least one of the following (or equivalent) is required
  • Sun Certified System Administrator for the Solaris Operating System
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer
  • Red Hat Certified Engineer
  • Sun Certified Java Developer
  • Advanced Computer Science degree from an accredited institution
  • Authentication, Authorization, and Access exposure to at least one of the following (or equivalent)
  • Active Directory
  • Kerberos
  • LDAP
  • Shibboleth
  • Source Control Systems exposure to at least one of the following (or equivalent)
  • Concurrent Versions System (CVS)
  • Source Code Control System (SCCS)
  • Subversion
  • Process Modeling exposure to at least one of the following (or equivalent)
  • Capability Maturity Model (Level 2)
  • Software Process Improvement and Capability Determination (SPICE)
  • Network Protocol Level exposure to at least three of the following (or equivalent)
  • IPSec
  • NFS
  • SMB/CIFS
  • SMTP
  • SNMP
  • SSL
  • TCP/IP
  • UDP/IP
  • Programming exposure to at least two of the following (or equivalent)
  • C/C++
  • Java/Javascript
  • PERL
  • Python
  • Shell Scripting (e.g. sh, csh)
  • Structured Query Language (SQL)
  • Exposure to the deployment and/or development of Open Source software
