Yates Private Swim Instructor - Yates Memorial Field House

With this in mind, the Yates Memorial Field House was built to meet the recreational, instructional, and intramural sport needs of the entire University Community. As the primary recreation facility for Georgetown University, Yates offers comprehensive recreational programming to serve the needs of university students, faculty and staff.

Provides private swim instruction primarily to adults from beginner to advanced level, but may also include some instruction for children. Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Starts and ends on time, approachable and displays an open and friendly attitude.
  • Creates a well-designed session catered to each student's level of ability.
  • Understands how to teach swimming and well-timed cueing to arm and leg movements.
  • Establishes energetic environment; inviting and makes eye contact.
  • Talks to and motivates the client.
  • Sets up client for success with understanding of stroke progression.
  • Offers a safe environment for client to learn and improve their swimming.


The position is part-time and involves evening and weekend hours- approximately 10 hours per week.

Requirements
  • Sets up client for success with understanding of stroke progression.
  • College degree preferred
  • Previous teaching experience with adult beginner, intermediate and advanced swimmers
  • CPR/AED First Aid Certification (preferred by not required)
  • Red Cross WSI
  • Engaging and professional approach
  • Self-motivated with passion for helping clients achieve their swim goals
