Staff Psychologist (Temporary Position) - Division of Student Affairs
The Division of Student Affairs contributes to the establishment of a student-centered learning community that fosters educational and personal development and is dedicated to the Jesuit tradition of care for self and others (cura personalis).
The Counseling and Psychiatric Service (CAPS) serves as the university's primary mental health agency for its students and campus community. Our central mission is to collaborate directly with students in overcoming difficulties that may interfere with the definition and accomplishment of their educational, personal, and career goals. Accordingly, CAPS strives to provide students with opportunities to develop greater self-understanding, identify and solve problems, and improve academic performance through the alleviation of psychological, emotional, and cognitive impediments. The temporary Staff Psychologist entails the delivery of psychotherapy, counseling, outreach, and consultation services to Georgetown students, and consultations to deans, faculty, staff, and parents at the Georgetown University Law Center. Duties include but are not limited to:
Direct Clinical Service
- Conduct mental health/psychological evaluations and assessments.
- Provide individual and group psychotherapy.
- Provide crisis intervention services.
- Share on call, intake and emergency responsibilities with other staff members.
- Provide back up coverage for the Intake Coordinator.
- Maintain case management to ensure that patient dispositions are successfully completed.
- Document and maintain timely and accurate client records.
- Provide campus based clinical services.
- Maintain current knowledge regarding professional practices, ethics, and laws.
Community Consultation/Outreach
- Provide consultation to students, faculty and staff regarding mental health and behavioral and student life issues.
- Communicate with university personnel and other concerned individuals, such as family members and concerned students.
- Provide outreach activities to the University community, (trainings, presentations, crisis response).
Supervision and Other Duties
- Receive and/or provide clinical supervision as assigned.
- Attend scheduled staff meetings.
- Participate on CAPS and University Committees as assigned.
Requirements
- Doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology or a related field, or an MSW
- Previous college mental health experience or experience in a community mental health agency, along with licensure or license eligibility in the District of Columbia as a social worker or psychologist
