Investment Associate - Investment Office
The Georgetown University Investment Office manages financial assets for the endowment and the university pension plan under the fiduciary oversight of a subcommittee of the Board of Directors. The Investment Office's long-term objective is to produce the highest investment return possible while maintaining an appropriate level of risk and liquidity in order to provide perpetual, sustainable support for the university. Meeting this objective involves designing an investment program that addresses the needs of current and future generations of students through balanced asset allocation, the selection of investment managers, and timely rebalancing of the investment portfolio.
The Investment Associate assists in overseeing the management of the university's endowment and pension assets totaling approximately $1.9 billion. Reporting to the Directors in the Office of Investments, the Investment Associate has duties that include but are not limited to:
Sourcing Investment Opportunities
- Searches for investments in various private markets including real estate, resources, private equity, and venture capital.
- Completes full due diligence on these opportunities.
- Prepares investment memorandum for these opportunities.
Monitoring Existing Investments
- Monitors the investments of our existing managers.
- Conducts performance attribution of our portfolio managers.
- Tracks positions of our portfolio managers.
Researching Capital Markets
Conducts research projects on various capital markets topics, both independently and as directed by the Chief Investment Officer.
Supporting Investment Committee
- Prepares materials for Investment Committee meetings.
- Creates and prepares investment related materials for Board of Directors Investment Committee meetings.
Ad Hoc Projects
- Supports the Chief Investment Officer and Directors for ad hoc projects related to the endowment and pension assets.
- Helps supervise the Intern Program, which currently has 16 students during the academic year.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from a prestigious university
- No professional experience required, but strong preference for 2 years of experience at a top tier investment bank or management consulting firm, e.g., Goldman Sachs, McKinsey - and ideal candidate will have 2 to 4 years of experience
