Research Development Specialist

The Research Development Specialist supports faculty from all disciplines. They will identify external funding opportunities and assist with preparing grant proposals. Reporting to the Senior Director of Research Services and Administration the Research Development Specialist will help further Georgetown's research mission. Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Assists faculty in the preparation of award proposals.
  • Coordinates proposal development tasks such as budget development, budget justification, organizing & formatting proposals, checking for responsiveness to the funding agency's requirements, communicating and obtaining scope of work & budgets from partner institutions, and related proposal development functions.
  • Analyzes proposal for conformance with University regulations and other relevant regulations (e.g., federal, state, etc.).
  • Establishes relationships with current and potential funding agencies, foundations, corporations, and non-profits in order to identify funding opportunities for faculty.
  • Disseminates funding opportunity information to interested faculty.
  • Helps faculty develop funding opportunity alerts on funding databases such as COS/Pivot, grants.gov, etc.
  • Organizes funding agency workshops, meetings, delegations on campus or at funding agency site in order to better connect faculty to potential funders.


Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 3-5 year progressively responsible experience in research administration, specifically pre-award and research development.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task within fast paced environment.
  • Commitment to high professional standards of quality, integrity, and service to university researcher.
  • Experience in working and communicating with academic researchers
