Dewberry's Fairfax, Virginia office is seeking a Bridge/Structural Engineer with 8 or more years of experience in bridge design to join our established transportation practice. This position offers the opportunity to work on exciting and challenging bridge projects (including design build) in a dynamic team environment.

Responsibilities

• Design bridges and a variety of civil transportation structures (primarily of steel and concrete construction) using applicable software.
• Involvement and completion in all phases of bridge project development including planning, scheduling, inspection, analysis, design and technical specifications and reports.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior team members.
• Receive instructions from Senior Project Managers regarding general results expectations.
• Review project design for general compliance with engineering principles, company standards and client contract requirements.
• Bridge safety inspection (experience preferred, but not required).

Required Skills & Required Experience

• BS in Civil Engineering.
• 8+ years of experience in structural design of bridges (including prestressed and steel girders).
• Professional Engineering license in Virginia (or the ability to obtain by reciprocity).
• Proficiency in MS Office software.
• Proficiency using CADD (Microstation preferred)
• Ideally, experience with the structural design software Leap Bridge, Merlin Dash, Descus, and Midas (or CSIbridge). (Experience in similar programs will be considered).
• Familiarity with AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications and VDOT design standards.
• Design Build experience a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience performing bridge safety inspections preferred, but not required (NBIS Team Leader certification a plus).
• Driving on behalf of company is required. Therefore, a clean driving record is required.
