Dewberry is currently seeking a Financial Project Coordinator to join our Water/Waste Water Business Unit located in Fairfax, Virginia.

The Financial Project Coordinator will work directly with Project Accountants, Business Unit and Project Managers to ensure accurate and timely reporting of all financial and accounting related matters. The Financial Project Coordinator will be responsible for the day to day financial business processes including project account set-up, invoicing, invoice progress reports, accounts receivables, collections, subconsultant agreements, contract management and other related financial matters. Additionally, the Financial Project Coordinator will help facilitate preparation of project descriptions and resume updates as well as provide oversight/management of the Water Service Line Community page.


  • Routinely prepare, review and distribute financial reports on a weekly/monthly basis, or as needed Assist with invoice preparation and tracking, including communication to the client when invoices are past due
  • Develop and communicate procedures in a proactive manner to improve productivity, efficiency and cost effectiveness
  • Prepare Subconsultant Agreements
  • Request and Track Certificate of Insurance for our Projects and from our Subconsultants
  • Editing, formatting of correspondence, forms and reports
  • Content review coordination and set up/manage access rights on Water Service Line's SharePoint site and Dewberry's Intranet
  • Additional tasks may be required, up to and including administrative assignments

Required Skills & Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or 3+ years relevant experience
  • Must be well versed in bookkeeping and accounting practices including familiarity with accounts payable, project performance and financial reports
  • Knowledge of business contracts and invoice processing
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Must be detail-oriented and proactive
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; knowledge of JDEdwards Enterprise One and SharePoint a plus
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Effective time management and priority management skills
  • Ability to work independently and with a diverse team of professionals
