Dewberry is currently seeking a Graphic Designer Intern with exceptional creative and detail-oriented skills to serve as a member of its Communications Department in our Fairfax, VA office. The Graphic Designer Intern is responsible for supporting the company in the development and implementation of creative proposal graphics, page layouts, presentations, illustrations, and exhibits.

Responsibilities

  • Support the pre-positioning of Dewberry and pursuit of new work through the development of innovative and process-oriented graphic design, to heighten messaging and communication.
  • Work on various tasks, assessing project needs and recommending and delivering appropriate design solutions or visual representations of technical processes and other content.
  • Work with the graphic design manager and team to enforce quality control; protect and ensure adherence to company standards on all visual materials.
  • Edit videography in collaboration with multimedia specialist/photographer; gain approval of final product from multimedia specialist/photographer and communications director.
  • Gain understanding and support Dewberry brand through visual content.
  • Maintain awareness of existing photography and graphics.
  • Learn about Dewberry's services to assist in their visual representation.
  • Other duties may be assigned.


Required Skills & Required Experience

  • Completing third or fourth year in pursuit of an Undergraduate degree in Graphic Design or Visual Communications required
  • Working knowledge and skills in Adobe Creative Cloud including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop; MS Word and MS PowerPoint.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to provide excellent quality control.
  • Creative, artistic, and critical thinking skills are a must.
  • Must possess conceptual ability and experience in layout.
  • Self-starter, reliable, responsible and dependable; adaptable and flexible.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment to develop constructive/cooperative working relationships.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to multitask and prioritize assignments to meet critical deadlines, a must.
  • Must provide a design portfolio which demonstrates a range of strong graphic and technical design skills.
