    In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.     To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: reviewing plans for a new construction to ensure fire safety compliance; inspecting and correcting deficiencies in a variety of fixed fire protections systems, which are complex and/or designed for the specific operation and hazard; and adapting standard fire prevention practices and procedures to local requirements. This experience is equivalent to the GS-07 grade level.

    • Building Construction
    • Fire Prevention, Inspection, and Code Compliance
    • Fire/Life Safety Training, Public Education, and Outreach

    • This position requires you to possess and maintain Department of Defense (or equivalent) Firefighter I and II, Fire Inspector I and II, Fire Instructor I, and Hazardous Materials Operations. (Note: You MUST attach a copy of these certifications to your application packet.)
    • This position also requires that you possess Maryland Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Basic, or National Registry EMT-B, or any state certification based upon the DOT National Standard Curriculum, if EMT-B, or any state certification is from National Registry or form another state, must obtain Maryland EMT-B within 9 months of appointment.
    • This position requires you to possess or obtain within 9 months of employment the following certifications: Confined Space Rescue, DoD or equivalent Hazardous Materials Technician and Hazardous Materials Incident Commander, Fire Officer I and II, Fire Instructor II.     • This position requires you to obtain within 9 months of employment, National Incident Management System (NIMS) certification, to include 100a, 200a, 300, 400, 700a, and 800b levels. (Note: If you possess this certification please attach a copy to your application packet).
