The TNP Lead Teacher provides quality therapeutic and educational services to children enrolled in the Therapeutic Nursery Program (TNP). The Lead Teacher works closely with the TNP Director in developing, implementing and evaluating the curriculum and therapeutic aspects of the TNP. The Lead Teacher acts as the representative for the Lourie Center and demonstrates actions and attitudes and RISES* values that contribute to the critical success factors of the organization (i.e. Best place to work, most extraordinary experience, superior outcomes, financial success for reinvestment, valued as a faith-based organization, and a growing organization vital to the community). The Lead Teacher guides and leads the multi-disciplinary teaching team in the daily functioning of the classroom.

Work Schedule:

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Works closely with the TNP Director in developing, implementing, and evaluating the curriculum and therapeutic aspects of the TNP
  • Shows the ability to creatively design approaches/methods that address individual and group needs
  • Skilled in supporting children's social, emotion; and behavior regulation including crisis support; Proven capacity to identify concerns and needs of parents
  • Demonstrates strong skills in oral and written presentation of educational and therapeutic progress reports
  • Works effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team and participates in reflective supervision
  • Works with members of the larger Lourie Center organization to provide seamless system of support for the children in the TNP.
  • Responsible for daily set-up of classroom and maintaining classroom supply and snack orders.
  • Plans and ensures follow through of planned classroom activities (daily activities and special events)
  • Coach and guides classroom team

  • Solid understanding of Creative Curriculum and skills expectations
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Excellent skills in maintaining information as highly confidential.
  • Exceptional conflict resolution, crisis management, and time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and creativity skills.
  • Excellent public relations and customer service skills.
  • Ability to concentrate on work amid distractions such as noise, conversations, and foot traffic.
  • Flexibility in work hours in order to meet student and Organization operating needs
  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain self-control in volatile/hostile Situations, e.g., when being verbally and/or physically confronted by a student or family member.
  • Ability to set therapeutic limits and maintain therapeutic distance with students
  • Ability to maintain therapeutic boundaries with children and team members
  • Ability to address and prioritize multiple task demands within established time frames.
  • Ability to use PC (Windows, E-Mail, Internet), telephone, copy Machine.
