  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • To qualify for a GP-13: Your resume must also demonstrate three (3) years of graduate training in the specialty area of the position being filled OR equivalent experience and training as a professionally licensed physician administering healthcare treatment or providing clinical care to patients suffering from injury or disease.
    To qualify for a GP-14: Your resume must also demonstrate four (4) years of graduate training in the specialty area of the position being filled OR equivalent experience and training as a professionally licensed physician providing medical advice or clinical expertise to prevent, diagnose, or treat illness or disease.
    To qualify for a GP-15: Your resume must also demonstrate five (5) years of graduate training in the specialty area of the position being filled OR equivalent experience and training as a professionally licensed physician evaluating clinical programs or healthcare treatment to identify solutions or strategies to improve patient care or healthcare operations.

    Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:

    Applicants must possess:
    Degree: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained; OR Degree from Foreign Medical School: A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must provide education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination;

    -AND-
    Licensure: A current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

    Positions may be eligible for part time, full time or ad-hoc telework at the discretion of management.

    Positions may be subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements.

    Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

    Term appointments may be extended up to 8 years at the discretion of management and in accordance with applicable regulations. Additionally, you may be noncompetitively converted to a permanent career-conditional or career appointment under specific conditions.

    Temporary promotions may be extended up to 5 years at the discretion of management and in accordance with applicable regulations.

    Temporary actions taken under this announcement may be made permanent without further competition.Recruitment incentives may be authorized to eligible new hires.
