Qualifying experience for the CP-7 level includes one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least CP-6 or GS-7 level which is in or directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Specialized experience for this position is defined as experience: coordinating emergency response resources by receiving and disseminating information through appropriate chain of command, coordinating activities within an incident command system, monitoring emergency communication devices and systems, monitoring and performing surveillance of a geographic area utilizing map skills and deploying resources, facilitating the flow of information from a central command area in a military, law enforcement or emergency management environment.
Substitution of Education for experience: A Master's degree or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full academic years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D.
OR
Combining Experience and Education: Equivalent combinations or successfully completed education and experience may be used to meet the experience requirements.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
Shift Work -- The USCP operates 7 days per week and 24 hours per day. Command Center Operations Specialists will be required to work any assigned shift. Duty hours are subject to change to accommodate the needs of the Department; additional duty may be required. Applicants must be willing and able to work nights, weekends and holidays.
Shift hours are as follows; however, they are subject to change.
1st Shift: 10:00 pm - 6:00 am
2nd Shift: 6:00 am - 2:00 pm
3rd Shift: 2:00 pm - 10:00 pm
WORK LOCATIONS are flexible and may require extended work hours. Some locations may be in remote areas; however, still within the District of Columbia commuting area.
