  • Basic Requirement

    In order to qualify for a Social Worker, GS-0185 position, you must meet the following Basic Education Requirement:

    You must have a Master's Degree in Social Work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.

    Additional Requirements

    You qualify at the GS-13 level, if you meet the following qualification requirements:

    You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: Make psychosocial assessments of employees in a healthcare setting to identify factors having a bearing on their illness and recovery; develop a treatment plan for seriously ill clients based on an assessment of psychological, social and medical realities; develop and evaluate social work policies and programs and make recommendations for modifications; develop educational programs for supervisors and employees regarding Employee Assistance Program services and referral mechanisms; and maintain statistics of social work activities to assess effectiveness.

    In order to meet minimum qualification requirements you must also demonstrate possession of the selective factor for this position. Selective factor: You must be a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) by a recognized licensing agency of a State, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
