Budget Analyst, Office of Finance & Accounting

The University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business is seeking a well-qualified Budget Analyst to join the team in Finance & Accounting. One of 13 schools and colleges located on the University of Maryland, College Park campus, the Smith School is a recognized leader in management research and education for the global economy. The position will be responsible for acting in a financial capacity for up to 6 departments for the Robert H. Smith School of Business under minimal supervision. Assume a leadership role in the development of departmental budgets. Interpret and extract financial data to generate quarterly and ad hoc financial reports. Facilitate the annual audit for the Executive Degree Programs of the Robert H. Smith School of Business Foundation, Inc. Prepare the Foundation quarterly board reports and assist the Director on Foundation activities.
Minimum Qualifications: A degree in accounting or finance at the bachelor level or higher. Minimum of 4 years of experience in budgeting and managerial accounting or financial analysis. Preferred Qualifications: Higher Education industry preferred; excellent accounting knowledge and familiarity with GAAP; strong computer skills and proficiency with financial reporting systems; ability to be highly organized and detail-oriented with an emphasis on accuracy, timeliness and prioritization; extensive account reconciliation skills; analytical skills in order to gather and interpret data; ability to manage complex financial activities; ability to lead and manage projects.
