One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as: resolving unique or novel problems, conditions or issues; or significantly altering standard practices, equipment devices, processes and known techniques; executing projects representing an important segment of the agency's operating programs and/or methods; apply experimental theories and/or new applications or developments to extend or modify theories, concepts, and assumptions; significantly altering standard practices, equipment, devices, processes and known techniques; provide expert advice to senior colleagues and/or agency officials responsible for broad program operations.
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, you may qualify at the GS-15 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as: Providing engineering and scientific analyses and recommendations in area(s) of expertise and serves as the Agency's focal point assigned technology area(s); Analyzing and responding to technical arguments raised by industry or other executive agencies in the international technology transfer process; design, research, develop, test, evaluate, manufacture and transfer advanced systems and technologies related to Chemical/biological agents. Review and analyze research, development, and production trends in area(s) of responsibility to assess the national security aspects of the particular.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
