  • You qualify at the GS-11 level if you meet one of the following qualification requirements:

    A. You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: creating, maintaining, and managing public records in compliance with laws, regulations and policies, OR
    B. Successful completion of a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in a field directly related to this position (law, records management, etc.), OR
    C. Successful completion of at least 3 full years of graduate education toward a Ph.D. or equivalent in a field directly related to this position (law, records management, etc.), OR
    D. A combination of post baccalaureate education and experience that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position.

    You qualify at the GS-12 level if you meet the following qualification requirements:

    You must demonstrate in your resume that you have at least 1 year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: ensuring the proper creation, maintenance, management, and disposition of public records in order to achieve adequate and proper documentation of the policies and transactions of the organization and effective and economical management of operations.

    You qualify at the GS-13 level if you meet the following qualification requirements:

    You must demonstrate in your resume that you have at least 1 year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: planning, controlling, directing, organizing, promoting, or developing policies or procedures for records information management for an organization; reviewing and implementing training for employees, managers, and record-keeping staff in records management regulations, policies, and methods; and, ensuring that records are maintained, stored, and disposed of properly.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
