We are currently seeking a Laboratory Technician to work onsite with the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD. OVERVIEW. Opportunity to work at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the world's foremost medical research center. TASKS/SERVICES. The contractor shall: Dendrite Morphogenesis and Plasticity Unit (DMPU): Perform general data management and research activities related to genetic studies of dendrite development using invertebrate models. Document and maintain laboratory copy of Drosophila stocks. Establish and maintain a record of laboratory supply usage. Order, ship and receive supplies; communicate with vendors and suppliers. Perform basic biochemistry and molecular biology tasks. Synaptic Transmission Section (STS): Perform primary adrenal chromaffin cell culture. Drive to a slaughter house to purchase fresh adrenal glands; return adrenal glands to NIH STS laboratory. Perform culture of the fresh glands; dissect, digest and perform a series of culture procedures. Order and receive reagents; communicate with vendors for laboratory equipment service, repair and maintenance. Document the usage of general laboratory supplies. REQUIREMENTS. The contractor must have: Bachelor's degree in a related discipline. Minimum of one (1) year of related experience. Valid state driver's license. Strong communications skills, both oral and written.
