Kelly Scientific Resources has a great opportunity for a Protein Engineering Research Associate to work in Germantown, Maryland for a biotech company focused on the development of novel cell-based cancer therapies. The Research Associate position is open to candidates with a BS (MS is preferred) in molecular biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, bioengineering or related field AND with 1 years of relevant laboratory experience in molecular biology and protein expression. The successful candidate will work with an experienced cross-functional team responsible for discovery, engineering and preclinical validation of novel protein and cell-based therapies. The following personal competencies are required: Commitment to ethical scientific investigations and rigorous experimental methods. Sense of urgency in performance of duties. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills that promote a collaborative and productive lab environment. The following technical proficiencies are required: Intuitive understanding of recombinant protein design, construction and analysis. Methods include: oligo/primer design, PCR, gel electrophoresis, DNA isolation, cloning and sequence analysis, bacterial selection and propagation. The following technical proficiencies are preferred: High throughput screening and characterization of recombinant clones. Recombinant protein expression in either bacterial, yeast and mammalian systems. Mammalian cell culture, including transfection. Protein analytical methods include ELISA, SDS-PAGE, Bioanalyzer, endotoxin analysis. Directed evolutionary selection method (eg phage display). Why Kelly (R) ?
