  • You may qualify at the GS-09 grade level, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
    A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service:
    • Perform security reviews of application designs, software development, source code and deployments.
    • Conduct systems security evaluations, audits and reviews; OR
    B. Possess a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree (transcripts required).

    You may qualify at the GS-11 grade level, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
    A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service:
    • Perform security reviews of application designs, software development, source code and deployments; conduct systems security evaluations, audits and reviews.
    • Ensure systems and applications are in compliant with DoDI 8510.01, Risk Management Framework (RMF) for DoD Information Technology (IT), DoDI 8500.01 Cybersecurity and National Institute Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publication (SP) 800-37 directive and procedures; OR
    B. Possess a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in the field of Information Technology or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree (transcripts required).

    You may qualify at the GS-12 grade level, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
    A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service:
    • Performing Information Assurance (IA) duties that ensures the confidentiality, integrity and availability of systems, networks and data.
    • Perform security reviews of application designs, software development, source code and deployments; conduct systems security evaluations, audits and reviews.
    • Ensure systems and applications are in compliant with DoDI 8510.01, Risk Management Framework (RMF) for DoD Information Technology (IT), DoDI 8500.01 Cybersecurity and National Institute Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publication (SP) 800-37 directive and procedures.
    You may qualify at the GS-13 grade level, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
    A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service:
    • Oversee Information Assurance (IA) duties that ensures the confidentiality, integrity and availability of systems, networks and data through the planning, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance and enhancement of information cybersecurity programs, policies, procedures and tools.
    • Manage security reviews of application designs, software development, source code and deployments; conduct systems security evaluations, audits and reviews.
    • Ensure systems and applications are in compliant with DoDI 8510.01, Risk Management Framework (RMF) for DoD Information Technology (IT), DoDI 8500.01 Cybersecurity and National Institute Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publication (SP) 800-37 directive and procedures.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    Individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:

    Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
    Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
    Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
    Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

    Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for the GS-12 or GS-13 grade levels.

    ARE YOU USING YOUR EDUCATION TO QUALIFY AT THE GS-09 or GS-11 GRADE LEVEL? You MUST provide transcripts or other documentation to support your educational claims.     GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours that your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.

    FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.     Other Notes:
    This position has been identified as covered by DoD 8570.1-M, Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program. Incumbent must meet training and I or experience requirements defined in DoD 8570.01-M Information Assurance Management (IAM) Level 3 certification within six (6) months of incumbency and maintain that certification while in this position.
