    This position is designated as High Risk and requires a background investigation. Unless an appropriate background investigation is already on record with the Office of Personnel Management, you must undergo a background investigation.

    If you are selected, you must complete a one year probationary period.

    You do not need a degree to qualify for this position.

    We are looking for at least one year of specialized experience related to this position as described below:

    To qualify for this SL position, you need to have at least one year of full time experience equivalent to the GS-15 level defined as providing leadership, oversight, or technical direction for a scientific research program related to air and energy; establishing priorities and facilitating communication and coordination with senior management.

    You will be evaluated on the mandatory Technical Qualifications listed in this announcement. See the Evaluations section of this announcement. 

    Position has portable work and selectee may be authorized to telework after meeting eligibility requirements if approved by the supervisor/manager.

    Technical Qualifications (TQs) - Mandatory - Limited to two pages per factor - Failure to address these factors will result in your application being disqualified.

    TQ1. Demonstrated experience building coalitions and relationships with partners and customers to create a comprehensive research program to address their most pressing short- and long-term needs.

    TQ2. Demonstrated experience representing a major research, scientific, or technical organization in a senior capacity at conferences, meetings, etc., relating to environmental issues.

    TQ3. Demonstrated expertise in providing scientific leadership and direction on scientific and technical matters related to air and energy research.

    TQ4. Demonstrated experience developing long-range plans and research directions including resources needed and fiscal issues.
