  • BASIC REQUIREMENTS

    Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions. AND
    You may also qualify at the GS-13 grade level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:

    One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the military or private sector) that demonstrates your ability to use statistical computer languages to query databases to conduct computer analysis and draw conclusions; using models to test the effectiveness of different courses of action; using data mining/data analysis methods; and creating data architectures.

    You may also qualify at the GS-14 grade level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:

    One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the military or private sector) that demonstrates your ability to apply knowledge of statistical software and computer programs to conduct computer analysis of statistical data and findings; using large data sets to identify opportunities for operations and process optimization; using models to test the effectiveness of different courses of action; using data mining/data analysis methods; and creating data architectures

    You may also qualify at the GS-15 grade level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:

    One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the military or private sector) that demonstrates your ability to apply knowledge of statistical software and computer programs to conduct computer analysis of statistical data and findings; using large data sets to identify opportunities for operations and process optimization; creating and using advanced machine learning algorithms and statistics; developing statistical models to test the effectiveness of different courses of action; using data mining/data analysis methods; and creating data architectures.
    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
