To qualify at the GS-15 level, you must have at least five (5) years post Juris Doctorate professional legal experience in complex civil appellate law and/or complex civil litigation. The successful applicants should have substantial expertise handling such matters. Strong writing skills are required. At least two years of the required professional legal experience must be at or equivalent to the GS-14 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Preferred Qualifications: In addition to the required qualifications listed above, the ideal candidates will: (1) possess significant experience providing a full spectrum of legal services concerning complex civil appellate litigation; (2) be able to utilize their extensive knowledge in that area to provide thoughtful, nuanced, comprehensive and sophisticated legal advice to senior officials; (3) possess the flexibility to move seamlessly among matters as circumstances dictate; (4) possess the willingness, whenever called upon, to help other USTP attorneys with their projects to ensure the USTP's work is expertly done and timely completed; and (5) possess the ability and the expertise to assume front-line responsibility for handling and overseeing complex civil appeals.

Required Documents: A writing sample (preferably a legal brief or other pleading demonstrating the applicant's writing ability and proficiency in legal analysis) that represents the applicant's own original and unedited work.

Candidates must have a Juris Doctorate Degree from a law school. This information must be annotated in your resume.
