We're looking for a systems administrator with a solid background in Red Hat Linux systems engineering and administration to help us create solutions for Navy systems that will stand up to even the most advanced Cyber threats.
As a systems administrator on our project, you'll assist with the ongoing design, maintenance, and technical support for Navy production networks. You'll work with in house teams to identify the right mix of tools and techniques to translate your customer's needs and future goals into a plan that will enable secure and effective solutions while also ensuring that the current infrastructure is functional and available. You'll help customers overcome tough challenges through monitoring and performance management. Your technical expertise will be vital as you identify problem areas and opportunities for improvement in a mission critical network. Your experience and communication skills will come in handy as you turn metrics into information and communicate their meaning. You'll be able to broaden your skillset into areas Linux administration in a virtual environment and Cloud-based security while building peace of mind in a critical infrastructure. Provide continuing system administration, optimization, troubleshooting, and maintenance on a variety of systems on a highly complex and heterogeneous scientific network. Manage physical and virtual Red Hat Linux servers and workstations on a DoD production network. Perform server upgrades and installations to support mission requirements. Perform software version upgrades, as needed. Perform troubleshooting and resolution of trouble tickets in the Remedy system. Support user and account management activities on Linux-based systems. Ensure the continued availability of Linux-based systems for users on a DoD production network. Support command inspections and works with Cybersecurity staff to identify and remediate vulnerabilities on servers and workstations. Apply security patches and updates to Linux systems and remediate vulnerabilities, as required. Install and configure Linux packages on systems. Apply hardening measures to Linux servers and workstations on a production network using DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).

-Experience as a Red Hat Linux system administrator
-Knowledge of Red Hat Linux (RHEL) 6, RHEL 7, SSH, user account management, installing, configuring and deploying Linux systems
-Ability to install, configure and deploy Linux systems in accordance with DoD and Department of Navy requirements on a production network
-HS diploma or GED
-DoD 8570 Certifications, including IAT I/II and OS
Nice If You Have:
-Experience with Apache web server administration
-Knowledge of other Unix -ased systems
-Knowledge of DoD STIG requirements a plus
-Knowledge of Linux DNS, Solaris, ESX, and ESXi
