U.S. Patent Prosecution Assistant

DC law firm with a growing practice is seeking a U.S. Patent Prosecution Assistant. Candidate will prepare various documents required by clients and the U.S. Patent and Trademark office in support of client patent applications.  Responsibilities will include:   

  • Preparing and electronically filing documents at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, including certificate of correction, POAs, 3.73 statements, and -corrected Application Data Sheets for groups of cases transferred into the department
  • Reviewing for accuracy and preparing reporting letters to the client for Official Filing Receipts, Notices of Publication, Issue Notifications, and Recordation of Assignment
  • Preparing and filing requests for corrected Official Filing Receipts
  • Assist with additional duties as assigned by Firm timekeepers and management

A four year college degree and high GPA is required with a minimum of one year of professional office experience preferred.  Some knowledge U.S. prosecution and patent laws and rules preferred and familiarity with Patent sites and related websites, including PAIR, EFS and EPAS is a plus.  Candidate should have excellent written and oral communication skills and proficiency with MS Office Suite.  Must be able to work with tight deadlines with changing priorities.  Some OT may be required.  Firm offers excellent benefits and 37.5 hour work week.
