The Laboratory Animal Sciences Program (LASP) provides exceptional quality animal care and technical support services for animal research performed at the National Cancer Institute at the Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research. LASP executes this mission by providing a broad spectrum of state-of-the-art technologies and services focused on the design, generation, characterization and application of genetically engineered and biological animal models of human disease. The Animal Research Technical Support (ARTS) team within LASP utilizes advanced methodologies to perform research into the development of new cancer models, targeted diagnostics, and cancer therapies. KEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES The post-doctoral fellow will undertake preclinical research involving biotechnology development and mouse models of human brain cancer and metastasis in order to translate their research findings into human clinical trials The fellow will work with multiple cores and facilities within the Laboratory Animal Sciences Program to direct workflows, collect and analyze data, prepare presentations and manuscripts, and interface with NIH clinicians to inform and impact ongoing clinical efforts to treat brain tumors Although some benchwork may be involved, this position is primarily focused on project management, and is a unique and outstanding opportunity for a fellow looking to transition away from basic science benchwork and into translational science and scientific project management Robust training in both animal-based cancer research and in project management will be provided BASIC QUALIFICATIONS This is a dual requisition and can be filled at either a Post-Doctoral Fellow or Sr. Post-Doctoral Fellow. Post-Doctoral Fellow Possession of a PhD from an accredited college/university according to the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) in a biomedical research discipline. Foreign degrees must be evaluated for US equivalency. No experience required beyond the educational requirements Sr. Post-Doctoral Fellow Possessions of a PhD from an accredited college/university according to the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) in a biomedical research discipline. Foreign degrees must be evaluated for US equivalency.
