Please note that this position is a job share, working 20 hours a week.

This is a part-time merit position working Monday-Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The primary responsibilities of this position include providing administrative support under the direction of the Administrative Supervisor, Unit Director, Assistant Director and other intake officers, and assisting with the delivery of efficient and effective intake services to the public. Processes legal documentation and all information related to legal action with a high degree of accuracy using state and county computer systems. Maintains calendar and schedule appointments for intake cases. Generates forms, affidavits, correspondence and any other documents required. Greet and assist citizens, clients, and other Fairfax County agency personnel. Prepare detention hearing log for next day by contacting parents and probation officers to notify them of advisement hearings. Assists federal, state and local jurisdictions to provide accurate information, and/or refer to the appropriate court and/or county personnel. May be called upon to handle crisis situations with juveniles and/or their parents on-site with other citizen's present. Assists with other special projects and/or duties based on the needs of the unit as directed by the Administrative Supervisor, Director and Assistant Director.

NOTE: The salary offer for the position will not exceed the mid-point of the advertised salary range.

Employment Standards MINIMUM QUALFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience and training equivalent to high school graduation and one year of experience providing administrative support.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check and a check of the Child Protective Services Registry to the satisfaction of the employer.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work independently while handling multiple tasks and requests simultaneously. Must have flexibility in handling multiple and changing tasks. Proven ability to prioritize work and adapt to changing priorities. Strong attention to detail. Knowledge and experience in juvenile intake processes. Experience working with juveniles and families involved with juvenile court, social services or other human services field with three years direct experience working in Juvenile Justice, preferably in supporting a field probation office or intake. Bilingual in English and Spanish. Working knowledge of the Supreme Court of Virginia's Case Management System (CMS), Department of Juvenile Justice's Balanced Data Gathering Environment (BADGE), and Fairfax County Unified System (FOCUS).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to input, access, and retrieve information from a computer. Job is generally sedentary in nature, however incumbent must be able to lift/move up to 15 pounds. Visual and auditory acuity is required to communicate with others and read data on computer monitor. Ability to operate keyboard driven equipment and operate standard office equipment.
