Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent.

To qualify at the GS-8 level, you must have one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-7 level in the Federal government. Examples of specialized experience for this position are: screening telephone calls and visitors, and personally handling matters of an non-technical or general nature; responding to requests for information on a wide variety of topics from within an agency, other Federal agencies and members of the general public; developing and monitoring a tracking and reporting systems for a wide variety of items; developing standard office procedures covering the preparation of documents, filing of records, and handling of correspondence; and maintaining time and attendance records.
Typing Certification: You must be able to type at least 40 words per minute with 3 or less errors.
Education may enhance skills required for this position; however, no substitution of education for specialized experience may be made at this level.
Relocation Expenses Reimbursed may be paid, contingent upon availability of funds.
