Systems Engineer II for American Institutes for Research to work at our Washington DC loc. Provide system admin for & interact w/ large team of software devs. System admin & maintenance of web app servers & db servers. Tier 3 supt for networking & hardware config. Set up, config, & supt Windows/Linux servers on a TCP/IP network. Admin all systems, apps, security updates, & carefully document network & server changes. Config & troubleshoot Web, SQL, and Application servers. Troubleshoot network performance issues & coordinate w/ manager & team on new tasks or existing issues. Supt & resolve issues related to IIS, SQL, hardware, software and network. Supt clients’ requests for setting up hosting resources: Web sites, Databases, security & other internet resources (DNS, email, FTP). Perform a variety of tasks incl documentation & improvement of Standard Operating Procedures. Little domestic travel may be involved. May undergo background checks. Must have Bachelors in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, or Software Engineering and 3 years exp. in the IT Industry; or Masters in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, or Software Engineering and 1 year exp. in the IT Industry. Also req the following skills (1 yr exp in): Managing network resources in a web hosting environment; Configuring and maintaining web servers such as ISS, Apache Tomcat, and NGINX web servers; Microsoft SQL server (installation, administration, configuration, troubleshooting, backups, and restoration); IT concepts, issues, practices, methodologies, and trends; Windows server (installation and troubleshooting); Networks and protocols (TCP/IP, Monitoring, Security, familiar with at least one security application); Knowledge of hardware (Servers (HP), PCs); and database management.
