Assistant Director of Sustainability
The University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) seeks an innovative, dynamic Sustainability Professional to serve as its Assistant Director of Sustainability, reporting to the Assistant Vice President, Facilities Management.
The successful candidate will facilitate the development and implementation of sustainable initiatives and practices for the campus community. The Assistant Director provides leadership and organizational strategy in collaboration with key facilities, administrative and academic leaders across the university to ensure UMBC achieves its sustainability goals. Works with university leadership to develop and implement sustainability initiatives and programs that reduce environmental impacts, improve efficiency of the university's operations, preserve natural resources and promote conservation-based behavior, increase environmental awareness and engage students in experiential learning opportunities.

Requires a Bachelor’s degree related to the core functions of this position. An advanced degree, ISSP Certified Sustainability Professional and LEED Accredited Professional desired. Minimum of five years of progressive experience in planning and implementing sustainability programs for a large, complex organization. Higher education experience desired. Must demonstrate advanced skills in data analytics, assessing sustainability programs and cost benefit analysis. Must demonstrate the ability to make sound decisions and apply professional knowledge and expertise in sustainability using original and innovative approaches and techniques to solve complex non-routine problems. Must demonstrate the ability to function as part of a collegial, high-performing team.
