This position supports the NEA’s strategic objective to focus the energy and resources of its 3+ million members toward the promotion of public education by advancing new media development for the Center for Communications.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The essential functions of this position include driving digital campaigns for NEA with a data led approach that combines qualitative and quantitative data to drive strategy. The incumbent will work to collect and analyze data for online campaigns and communications strategies, including but not limited to web traffic and user behavior, email messaging statistics, and social media trends; and use this analysis to inform strategy with the goals of building support for NEA issue advocacy campaigns and growing NEA’s membership base. Additionally, the incumbent will plan measurement strategies for key performance indicators and monitor existing properties to ensure all tracking and data-collection works properly. This position will also extract core insights from data and performance and use these to develop testing and optimization strategies across channels and tactics, execute testing plans, and provide post-testing analysis. Additional duties will include: Google Analytics, Reporting, Coding, Product Strategy, Communications Strategy, Adwords, and Analytics Integration across platform.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Communications, or related field of study, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills may be acquired. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Five years of professional media experience with digital campaign execution in a labor, campaign, or progressive environment, membership outreach and development, and/or volunteer organizing. Experience must include working with a web analytics suite such as Google Analytics or Omniture, A/B testing solutions such as Optimizely (or equivalent), digital direct marketing optimization (email, paid media), and data analysis in Excel, Access, Tableau or a comparable tool.

SELECTION CRITERIA: Tier 1 (Essential) Proven experience in effectively using data to both identify and solve problems for digital advocacy and organizing campaigns that effectively inspire public audiences to take desired actions. Demonstrated experience in the development of online testing and optimization strategies. The ability to handle multiple and complex projects simultaneously under stringent timeframes and changing priorities/conditions. Demonstrated understanding of best practices of and how to use data and metrics to build and hone a data-informed plan. Demonstrated ability to develop forward-thinking, research-based digital engagement strategies that capitalize on audience interests and trends. Tier 2 (Significant): Demonstrated experience with search engine strategies and measurement systems, such as SEM (search engine marketing) or SEO (search engine optimization). Experience using social media monitoring services, such as Radian6, Crimson Hexagon, or Sysomos. Experience training on digital tools and best practices including social media, email, and CRM/digital organizing tools. Experience working with Salesforce. Successful references. Tier 3 (Desirable): Experience in statistical methodologies using R, Stata, or SPSS experience in SQL or similar. Experience supporting public issues related to public education and unions, digital professional development programming, as well as familiarity with issues regarding the impact of technology on membership organizations and member engagement. Knowledge of the mission and strategic focus of NEA’s Center for Communications.
