    Physical Requirements: The work is performed in an office setting.  The incumbent may walk to other offices in the East and West Buildings.  Must be able to lift boxes up to 40 pounds.

    SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

    Candidates must possess at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent in responsibility to the federal GS-7 level, providing specialized research assistance to both staff and the public.

    OR

    Two (2) full years of progressively higher level graduate education in library science.

    Other Relevant Eligibility Criteria:

    Reading knowledge of at least two of the following western European languages is required: French; Spanish; German; and Dutch.

    • Knowledge of auction catalogs and how to catalog them.
    • Ability to use automated systems to conduct research and locate library materials.
    • Knowledge of the reader services function in a library.
    • Knowledge of fine arts library tools, collections and vocabulary.

    Time-in-Grade: Current Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement to receive consideration under merit promotion procedures.
