    SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

    A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as:

    • Experience reviewing and evaluating policy and procedural guidance relative to security program implementation and effectiveness.
    • Experience leading or conducting inspections, surveillances and surveys
    • Experience developing annual self-assessment plans, surveys, and reports
    • Experience participating in the formulation of safeguard and security budgets.

    • Mastery level knowledge of a wide range of management theories, principles, techniques, practices used to gather, analyze, and evaluate information and program effectiveness and complex management processes.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of numerous security program and policy requirements in order to establish and provide policy oversight, and serve as the technical authority for the office.
    • Ability to lead a team; to bring together. Motivate, and work with diverse group of employees to resolve issues.
    • Mastery knowledge of analytical and evaluation methods and techniques to identify and analyze data and information relevant to projects under study and determine their implications in terms of alternatives and recommendations.
    • Ability to analyze, interpret and evaluate administrative management data, identify problem areas and implement corrective measures to resolve related problems.

Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.

    The Department of Energy uses an application tracking system to evaluate the responses you provide in the applicant assessment questionnaire to determine if you meet the minimum qualifications necessary for this position.
