Sentara Heart Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Cardiac OR Team!

This position is full time rotating shift. RN will work four ten-hour days. There will be an on call requirement and a once a month weekend call required. Candidate must live within 30 minutes of the hospital for call purposes

Department Overview:
We are made up of five operating rooms with one being a hybrid OR. We handle
8+ OR cases daily.

Nurses work with a multi-disciplinary team of Cardio-thoracic Surgeons, OR attendant, Surgical Techs, Surgical Assistants, Perfusionists, Anesthesiologists, Cardiovascular Technologists, and Physician Assistants.

The cardiovascular operating room nurse works as part of the surgical services and operating room teams that treat open-heart (cardiovascular) patients.
    Prepares OR Room, ensures equipment and medications are available for the operating room teamReviews patient’s chartAssesses patient upon admission and through procedurePrep and positions patient in ORAdministers medication, monitor vital signs during procedureDocuments informationProvides a call report to the ICU floor nurse after the surgical procedurePrepares OR for the next case

Position requires OR nursing experience. OR Cardiac nursing experience is ideal. Experienced ICU Nurse will be considered.

New Hire Education Requirement: All Registered Nurses who do not have their BSN will be required to sign a BSN Agreement committing to successfully obtain their BSN within 5 years of hire. BSN or MSN preferred. Meets and maintains any requirements defined by specific specialty; Critical Care/IMCU/EP/Advanced Heart Failure Center/SMG Cardiology Practices- ACLS within 1 year of hire; Emergency Care - ACLS & PALS or ENPC within 1 year of hire; All Direct Care RN's required to have BLS within 90 days of hire.
