The Family Support Worker:
Provides support and technical assistance to EHS/HS direct service staff in the content areas of family partnerships and engagement, community resources and collaborations, support service delivery, training and mentoring, monitoring and reporting, and providing best practices in working with families in crisis/high needs. As the program expands by an additional 200 children, the FES is needed to support family engagement event planning, policy council coordination, home based socialization planning and multiple other family related services.
Assists Centers and Teachers with planning and conducting monthly parent committee meetings and functioning as a committee; Meets with Teaching Team on a weekly basis Assist the Family Engagement Specialist and Manager with annual program wide event planning and ongoing parent trainings; Coordinates and/or conducts education opportunities for parents and volunteers; and Schedules and completes home visits and visits to assigned classrooms/centers.
Assists families to identify interests, concerns, services, and strengths; Supports families to develop skills needed to achieve their goals; utilize the parenting curriculum Circle of Security and Parents as Teachers as appropriate in your work with families.; and Link families to community providers and Assists parents in arranging transportation to appointments at various social or medical agencies.
Maintain all reporting and record keeping, including a monthly report to the Family Services Manager; Monitors child attendance closely and Follows procedures to maintain full enrollment; Establish and maintain accurate health and social services records for each family and Inputs data into ChildPlus database including, but not limited to, in-kind, attendance, enrollment applications, and family information, and other as needed.
Initiates and sustains contact with service organizations; Maintains a current directory of community resources; Attends appropriate community meetings and events; and Identifies and recruits prospective families for enrollment and volunteers for Head Start.
