The Virginia State Bar, the state agency that regulates the practice of law in Virginia, seeks an investigator to investigate complaints of attorney misconduct and the unauthorized practice of law.  The primary territory is Northern Virginia, but assignments in other areas of the state may be necessary on occasion.  College degree required.  The successful candidate must have significant experience in the legal field or similar government professional investigative experience, preferably with financial investigations, and demonstrated proficiency in conducting witness interviews, analyzing financial and other documentary evidence, preparing narrative investigative reports, and testifying in court or other proceedings;  The successful candidate must also have a satisfactory driving record and be able to travel throughout the state, to include occasional overnight trips.  He/she must be able to work effectively from home.   Additionally, he/she must demonstrate the ability to apply good judgment; the ability to work independently; and the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.  Criminal and credit background required.   Excellent state benefits.  Send cover letter, resume, writing sample (narrative investigative report preferred), and salary expectations to hr@vsb.org.  Position open until filled.  EOE
