    Specialized Experience Requirements:
    In order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement - please be sure to include this information in your resume.  To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade of the position to be filled.

    For the GS-13 level: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level. Examples of specialized experience at the GS-12 or equivalent include: Communicating both orally and in writing with internal and external customers; Planning, managing and evaluating projects on an organizational level; Providing editorial and technical advice/assistance on difficult assignments; Reviewing and correcting drafts of written material.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    Substitution of Education:

    There is no substitution for education at the 13 grade level.

    Travel and relocation expenses will not be paid by the Department of the Interior. Any travel, transportation and relocation expenses associated with reporting for duty in this position will be the responsibility of the selected employee.

    Work Environment: The employee works in an office environment. Some travel required.

    Physical Demands: The employee does sedentary work, such as sitting comfortable. There may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items, or driving an automobile. No special physical effort or ability is required to perform the work.

    KSA 1: Skill in effective communications, both orally and in writing to audiences consisting of managers and others at all levels of an organization using various approved briefing techniques, presentations, training sessions, or over the telephone.
    KSA 2: Skilled with the Federal Records Act with the ability to apply records management practices to the day-to-day operations of the Directives program.
    KSA 3: Knowledge of governance policy related laws, regulations and principles are required.
    KSA 4: Skill in managing, facilitating, and coordinating group activities, project activities, and coordinating with state, departmental and inter/intra-agency personnel.
