    1) Proficient in various NDT methods and procedures to verify that work performed by various trades complies with applicable specifications and requirements; 2) Thorough technical knowledge of the various NDT techniques utilized to repair, alteration, and maintenance of naval ships; 3) Familiar with work and inspection standards, codes and safety procedures under which work is accomplished; 4) Working knowledge of naval ships, components, and terminology analogous to ship construction; 5) Familiar with the type and location of defects consistent with the fabrication process involved and the ability to classify these defects as acceptable, unacceptable, or irrelevant.

    This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. Must be willing and able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

    Selectee will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

    Work requires lifting and moving heavy items.

    Must be able to wear personal type safety equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

    Must be able to obtain an interim and/or final (e.g., confidential/secret/top secret, etc.) security clearance prior to entrance on duty AND must be able to maintain the required level of clearance while employed in the subject position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

    This is a Key/Emergency-Essential position. In the event of a crisis situation of war, the incumbent must continue to perform assigned duties to support mission requirements until relieved by proper authority.

    Selectee must obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.

    Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.

    Selectee will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

    Work requires frequent bending, stooping, walking, standing, working in cramped positions, and climbing.
