Qualification Requirements for the CG-07:

Applicant may be considered based on a combination of both education and experience.

Qualifying experience includes:

  1. Individual economic research assignments requiring planning, information assembly, analysis and evaluation, conclusions and report preparation;
  2. Project coordination assignments involving a staff of professional economists, and requiring the evaluation and interpretation of economic information.


Education: Completion of 1 full academic year of graduate level education, or eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement with completion of a bachelor's degree.

Superior Academic Achievement (SAA):

To qualify for SAA, applicants must have met one of the following:

a. A grade-point average of "B" (a GPA of 2.95 or higher out of a possible 4.0) for all completed undergraduate courses, or those completed in the last two years of undergraduate study.

b. A grade-point average of "B+" (a GPA of 3.45 or higher out of a possible 4.0) for all courses in your major field of study, or those courses in your major completed in the last two years of undergraduate study.

c. Rank in the upper one-third of your class in the college, university or major subdivision.a major in economics plus appropriate experience or additional education.

d. Membership in a national honor society (other than freshman honor societies)
recognized by the Association of College Honor Societies.

If selected, you may be required to serve a trial period.

All selectees must sign a Pathways Participant Agreement.

This position may confer non-competitive conversion eligibility.

This appointment may be extended if intern continues to meet the requirements of the FDIC Pathways Program.

To be eligible for conversion to the competitive service, you must complete 640 hours of work experience (up to 320 hours may be waived based on successful performance in the position and a 3.45 overall GPA); meet the OPM qualification standards for the target position; and meet the requirements of the FDIC Pathways Agreement. Service in the Pathways Internship Program confers no right to further employment.

NOTE: Prior to conversion to an economist (0110 series), you must have a degree in economics which includes at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus.
