Job Description

The Washington Post's FP&A department is seeking a uniquely qualified individual with both finance and operations experience. This role requires the standard modeling and analytics skillset, but also a sense of creativity and curiosity in the constantly evolving operations of a digital media business.

The purchase of The Washington Post by Amazon founder, Jeff Bezos has propelled the company into the elite set of US digital publishers. Recently, Fast Company put The Washington Post at the top of the “World's Most Innovative Companies of 2018 in Media.” Along with the robust investment and record-breaking growth in digital revenue and traffic comes the responsibility of guiding the company's resources into complete optimization to reach both strategic and financial objectives. You will be part of a team charged with this task; using data driven analytics combined with comprehensive judgment to advise both short and long term planning.

The FP&A team is comprised of subject matter experts of different departments and revenue streams. Your focus will span across many areas of The Washington Post including, but not limited to, contractor expense planning and management, sales incentive calculations, and revenue reporting. The ability to understand and communicate financial risks and opportunities at all times is imperative. You will use your subjective intelligence, client relationships, and data analytics to create trust and to serve the financial needs of the overall organization.

Other requirements include but not limited to: 1 to 2 years of finance or accounting experience; Bachelor's degree in finance, business, accounting or related field; understanding of financial systems optimization and knowledge in GAAP accounting; proven presentation and project management skills; and the ability to work effectively and independently with all levels of management.
