The American Chemistry Council (ACC), a national trade association representing the world’s leading chemical and plastics manufacturers, currently has an opportunity for Coordinator for its Meetings and Conference department.  ACC represents its members on public policy issues; coordinates the industry’s research and testing programs; and administers Responsible Care®, the industry’s environment, health, safety and security performance improvement initiative.

The position is responsible for serving as the initial point-of-contact within the Meetings and Conferences department. The position is also responsible for supporting the meetings staff in booking and supporting off-site meetings and events, as needed. The position is further responsible for assisting with planning events, managing all registration questions, answering publications inquiries, providing general information on team projects and completing updates on member company demographics and mailing lists. The position reports directly to the Managing Director, Meetings and Conferences.

Other key duties and responsibilities of the position include participating in planning meetings for ACC-sponsored workshops, seminars, conferences, events, etc.; handling all aspects of receiving, processing and confirmation of registrations for attendees; assisting with the preparation and production of meeting materials including attendee badges; and responding to member and public inquiries, as well as providing substantive answers and materials as needed or refers inquiries to other team members. 

Required qualifications include three years’ related experience, Bachelor’s degree preferred; demonstrated knowledge of meeting coordination; strong written and oral communications skills; ability to manage multiple projects/tasks, and work independently; ability to travel within the United States; working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint; and experience working with internet and database applications, knowledge of on-line registration tool (CVENT), Customer Relations Management (CRM), and SharePoint preferred.
