Conditions of Employment If selected for this position, you will be required to:

- Submit to a drug test prior to your appointment and random drug testing while you occupy the position.
- Obtain and maintain a FAC-COR Level II certification within the first 2 years of hiring.
- Perform work that involves exposure to loud noises, fumes, chemical explosives, lead and other hazards found in a firearms testing/training facility.
- Stand for extended periods of time when providing course instruction.
- Assist in carrying equipment and materials, and in preparing classrooms/training sites (indoors or outdoors for specialized instruction.
- Visit facilities for contract sites to review, test and/or approve project operations as needed.
GS-12: You qualify for the GS-12 level (starting salary $81,548) if you possess one year of specialized experience at the GS-11 level performing duties such as: conducting research, testing, storage, maintenance and issuance of firearms, ammunition and related equipment; operating machine shop equipment to include Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) programming and ballistic laboratory equipment; planning and recommending modifications to weapons and other related equipment to ensure that specifications are met; developing test plans, reports, and lesson plans as it pertains to weapons technology.
Selective Placement Factor: In addition to the minimum qualifications described above, you must meet the following requirement(s) to be considered qualified for the position:
- Must have certification of formal education in gunsmithing and/or small arms repair from an accredited institution OR the U.S. Military.
National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience) Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student, social).
