    • Submit to a drug test prior to your appointment and random drug testing while you occupy the position.
    • Obtain and maintain a FAC-COR Level II certification within the first 2 years of hiring.
    • Perform work that involves exposure to loud noises, fumes, chemical explosives, lead and other hazards found in a firearms testing/training facility.
    • Stand for extended periods of time when providing course instruction.
    • Assist in carrying equipment and materials, and in preparing classrooms/training sites (indoors or outdoors for specialized instruction.
    • Visit facilities for contract sites to review, test and/or approve project operations as needed.

    GS-12: You qualify for the GS-12 level (starting salary $81,548) if you possess one year of specialized experience at the GS-11 level performing duties such as: conducting research, testing, storage, maintenance and issuance of firearms, ammunition and related equipment; operating machine shop equipment to include Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) programming and ballistic laboratory equipment; planning and recommending modifications to weapons and other related equipment to ensure that specifications are met; developing test plans, reports, and lesson plans as it pertains to weapons technology.

    Selective Placement Factor: In addition to the minimum qualifications described above, you must meet the following requirement(s) to be considered qualified for the position:

    • Must have certification of formal education in gunsmithing and/or small arms repair from an accredited institution OR the U.S. Military.
