Primary PurposeThe EMMES Corporation is seeking a Summer Intern currently enrolled in a degreed program, preferably as a rising senior with an interest in securing a regular full-time staff position upon graduation. The Summer Intern will be provided applied learning opportunities with meaningful real-life, hands-on work experience in support of improving public health. This is a full-time paid internship at up to 40 hours per week; the internship commences on May 28, 2019 and will be completed on August 16, 2019. Interns at Emmes perform a variety of research, database and clerical duties of a routine and technical nature to support project staff in compiling clinical research data. Interns at Emmes are primarily responsible for the collection, aggregation, and analysis of data. Interns may carry out other duties such as data entry along with administrative duties including filing and photocopying. Interns at Emmes are provided with informal and formal mentorship opportunities with a strong focus on building work skills, with a goal of future placement as a full-time regular staff upon graduation. This position will provide support for studies on the AIDS Malignancy Consortium (AMC) research team. The AMC group focuses on innovative Phase I through III clinical trials for AIDS-related cancers. The AMC’s mission is to investigate new treatment and prevention interventions for malignancies in people living with HIV. The AMC group provides support for more than 20 clinical research studies both domestically and internationally. The AMC is a full-service project that provides multi-faceted support such as data management, protocol monitoring, adverse event review and reporting, protocol development, and regulatory document tracking and submission. Responsibilities
Responsibilities may include assisting with the generation and review of technical reports and documents including work with data tables, figures and listings
Participate in inputting and managing data for clinical trials
Perform data audits and quality control review of databases, web sites and spreadsheets
Provide administrative and coordination support including copying, filing and other related tasks
Attend and contribute to team meetings, including working to set and achieve project timelines and deliverables
Apply and/or learn relevant work skills towards assignments to prepare for potential future hire within a relevant research area of Emmes
Perform other duties as assigned
Current enrollment in an accredited degree program; rising senior status with an interest in returning to Emmes as a future full-time regular staff member strongly preferred
Ability to apply problem solving, organizational and analytical skills both within group and individual settings
Demonstrated high attention to detail along with the ability to multi-task and prioritize workloads
Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 products and basic office equipment including but not limited to MS Word, Excel, Copying, and Scanning
Strong oral and written communication skills including writing, proofing, and editing
Previous Clinical Research and/or Public Health experience within an academic or professional work environment desired
