Director of Corporate and External Partnership - McDonough School of Business (MSB)

Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business (MSB) - located at the intersection of business, government, and international relations - develops principled leaders committed to serving both business and society. Through our global perspective, we prepare students to compete in today's international business environment.

The Director of Corporate and External Partnerships is responsible for forming relationships with strategic partners for the McDonough School of Business (MSB) and managing complex and multifaceted alliances with targeted corporations, non-profits, government agencies and associations.  This role is critical to the establishment of a coordinated outreach strategy that leverages the full portfolio of programs at The McDonough School of Business. Reporting directly to the Associate Dean and Chief Marketing Officer, he/she will collaborate with the Senior Associate Deans and others at the school and in Advancement to develop and implement strategies that enable the achievement of established engagement goals. The position also will conduct quarterly meetings with university corporate relations professionals and share information as opportunities arise. Position involves local and long distance travel. The Director of Corporate and External Partnership will have duties that include but are not limited to:

Relationship Management

  • Collaborate with administrators to understand the goals and needs of individual internal stakeholders, with the objective of identifying opportunities with strategic partners that will ultimately generate revenue, jobs for our students, goodwill/branding, funding for faculty or in-kind services for Georgetown McDonough. 
  • Lead outreach efforts by identifying key external stakeholders and influencers within target organizations, establishing relationships with them to advance the partnership; and transitioning relationships to the appropriate team within the school. 
  • Independently and proactively develop and propose new engagements that leverage the full portfolio of McDonough School of Business offerings.

Strategic Planning

  • Develop criteria and prioritize client prospect lists to identify the right organizations for Georgetown McDonough to target.
  • Create effective solicitation strategies and manage client development life-cycle.
  • In partnership with colleagues, deliver at least two events annually that engage corporate partners, providing the school with the opportunity to showcase its offerings.
  • Ensure that keynote speakers, prominent alumni, or C-suite executives who visit campus take advantage of the opportunity to meet with the Dean or Senior Administrators to discuss ways to expand the relationship between the school and their organization.
  • Deliver performance measures aligned with McDonough priorities and stakeholder objectives.

Administration

  • Support, track, and assist progress on projects
  • Develop a marketing/web presence to demonstrate how strategic partners can work with the school and to help advance the discussions
  • Develop procedures for effective engagement across stakeholders
  • Use Salesforce.com to track all correspondence, solicitation outreach and outcomes
  • Work with Salesforce.com user group to develop reports to track progress for each campaign
  • Draft proposals/MOUs/sponsorship packages for partnership agreements developed as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred
  • Requires excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and attention to details. 7-10 years of business or related experience in corporate relations or client service with sophisticated, demanding clients
  • Individual must be proficient in Microsoft Office software
  • Individual must be able to work in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other Office software
  • Strong attention to detail, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills required
  • The individual must be professional, circumspect, and diplomatic at all times
